![]() AND.it seems to have reset my horrible (non) sleep cycles. I go out and talk to people and feel normal again. For the first time in 3 years in the winter, I'm 'myself'. I knew it in 2 weeks (started the week before daylight savings). I sit for 35-45 minutes and it has been, to say the least, life-changing. I chose this lamp and every morning I pull it to the side of my bed (I marked the floor) so it is always the right distance in front of my face. I read so much info on the web but took the time to call Northern Lights customer service and was delighted to have a specific and helpful conversation so I could understand how to use the lamp and for how long. I researched light therapy and realized that I wanted to keep my morning routine - a cup of coffee in bed while I peruse my emails for a good 1/2 hour. I was suffering from SAD for the past 3 winters (NYC). I am spreading the word around to everyone I know! THANK YOU, Northern Light Technologies, for creating such an outstanding sturdy product, built to last, backed by wonderfully responsive and highly personable customer service. I did have access to Verilux's largest similarly designed lamp (1/2 the size approx) but it is much less sturdy, the cord is not as long nor as heavy duty and it feels fragile overall. ![]() Nothing to adjust and it ensures that both eyes are bathed in the 10,000 lux' worth of therapeutic light. The unit itself is very solidly built with a heavy-duty cord. When I increased my use to an hour, I noticed I was getting sleepier earlier in the evening and now most nights I sleep seven or even eight hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. Within less 2 weeks of using it daily, my circadian rhythms had been stabilized enough that I was waking up exactly at the same time each morning. I finally had the motivation and ability to take care of things that had piled up for months. Unbelievable! Within two days of using it for 1/2 hour upon waking, I felt like a different person. They were available in three metal finishes, namely gold-plated, silver-plated and chromium-plated, and all were, of course, fuelled with petrol rather than butane, which came into common usage in the 1960’s.Five stars are insufficient to describe the miraculous, life-changing effect the BoxLite has had on my energy and mood. The ‘Aquarium’ lighter was made in two sizes, the ‘Half-Giant’ and the smaller (and somewhat rarer) ‘Service’ size. A very small number of lighters depict non-aquatic scenes – hunting, horse-racing and aviary subjects in particular. The vast majority, logically, depict aquatic scenes, of either sea-water or fresh-water fish (but never both). ![]() No two ‘Aquarium’ lighters are the same – each is, in its way, a unique work of art. ![]() Upon his retirement, the skills necessary to continue to manufacture the ‘Aquarium’ lighter could not be found, and production ceased. Notes: The ‘Aquarium’ lighters were all designed and hand-made by Ben Shillingford (1904-2000), whose unique skills in designing, carving and hand-painting the Perspex panels could never be equalled. About A very rare silver-plated 'Aquarium' table lighter in ‘Half-Giant’ size, the perspex body enclosing intaglio decoration of pink and pale blue flamingos in a continuous watery landscape, with silver plated lift-arm marked DUNHILL, the reservoir cover to the base marked DUNHILL LIGHTER. ![]()
